Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Ski Town U.S.A.
Came back this year to try it for the first time since 1990
Found it to be very crowded, but did find some good powder stashes and some good tree skiing. I think Steamboat has sold out, that with the new hotel, Wal-Mart, and the restrictions at Strawberry park. What the hell, clothes at Strawberry Park, Don have you lost it? Of course we all have to deal with change and all in all it's still some of the best terrain I have skied, but it has become too commercial. I have great memories from this place including skiing one on one with Billy Kid, racing as a trial runner in the world cup, late night skinny dippin' parties at strawberry park and a million other great things. Best runs are: Bar-U-E, Closet and Shadows Area, and Triangle 3. Go there for a short stay and See if The Tugboat and The Inferno are still open.
Skiing, Working and Living
Steamboat is a great place to play in the winter. With some of the best snow in the country, living here and working here can be one of the easier places to ski bum
We elected to stay in our motor home, which was more affordable, and stayed at Ski Town Campground on the west end of town.
This was our third year at this ski area and worked at Rendezvous Saddle, an on Mountain restaurant, it's a ski in, ski out only facility, which put us on our skis everyday
Views from the Mountain
We stayed for part of the summer and hike the mountain whenever we could
And awaited the first winter snow
