Hanging Lake

11/08/04

In the center of Glenwood Canyon you will find the Hanging Lake Trail Head.  After a short walk along the Colorado River you will start your 1.2 mile hike to the lake.  This is a steep trail and climbs over 1000' to the actual lake.  We found some ice on the trail and it was very chilly in the dense forest, even though the parking lot temperature was 70 degrees.  A few things to remember, no dogs are allowed on the trail.  Wear good hiking shoes, tennis shoes may not be a good idea as the trail is very rocky.  The last 200' of the trail is a steep climb with a metal hand railing and if you  are scared of heights or have special needs you make be disappointed and have to wait for your friends to come back.
