Grand Lake, Colorado

and maybe the new home of the new project

Come stay with us at one of our rental cabins

Back in the 50's my parents came to this town every year, where we rented the a cabin that was part of the Brownhurst Cabins loctaed at the very end of town.  These cabins where then owned by Jake and Lesta Pettingell.  Jake was the mayor in those days

Humphrey's has been there since I remember

Now if you can believe this, this was my first job ever, back in the 50's  Polly owned this shop and I worked there for several years, probably around 1957

The keystone activity in this town is the Lariat Saloon, owed By Geno and Slosher.  dedicated to the town and it's charm this place is a must, for a drink anytime of the year.  I all actuality I had my first drink here, my sister Judy took me there when I was well, never mind

And yes we do go in there whenever we can and pound them down

This used to be Murphies boat dock, which had (In those days) the most beautiful Chris Crafts, and gave tours of the Lakes

A view of shadow mountain, across the lake

Some things change and others don't.  The town seemed busier, which is good, but I will miss some of those old charming things about it.  What are we doing here, Grumpy's owners?  I need to know.  Susan and I almost bought this, and if your going to make any changes, change the name back to the Foghorn, Please.  Long Story and a pretty wild one at that.
